[ EN ]In the Italian queer community, people often talk about “chosen family”, a concept that blends the need for belonging with the freedom to define oneself beyond traditional structures. It exists somewhere between the symbolic and the real: the search for a space – physical or mental – where one can feel safe, recognized, and free to exist. Sometimes, it only takes another person for that space to start feeling like home.
In recent years, certain places have begun to embody this need in tangible ways, becoming meeting points for connection and shared creation. One of them is La Restuccia, which from the very beginning has opened its doors to collectives and artists working across the boundaries of art, performance, and club culture. Here, experimentation thrives: work is shown, networks are built, and ideas circulate freely. It’s a fluid ecosystem where languages, bodies, and visions intersect and contaminate one another. Underdogs Creative, Sarabamba, and House of Vive are just three of the collectives that have found in this space a point of grounding a place to expand their research and imagine new forms of community. Masseria Wave is an innovative project that redefines traditional tourism by blending art, culture and community. It's not just a place – it's a one-of-a-kind experience that unfolds over two vibrant months, bringing together more than 100 international artists from all over the world with diverse talents. The program serves as a celebration of diversity and inclusion, creating a space where both locals and visitors can dive into a rich world of artistic expression.
