Serving Red

ICONIQA is more than an event. It is a gathering point for LGBTQIA+ expression, visibility, and cultural exchange. It’s a showcase of Queer Excellence in all of its forms. Each edition is designed as a living platform where nightlife, fashion, performance, and community come together to celebrate the creativity and resilience of our global LGBTQIA+ community.

Our most recent edition centered around the color red, a visual thread that carried through the entire night in the form of bold lewks, performances, and visuals. Red became a symbol of passion, power, and remembrance, while also connecting directly to the cause we chose to support. In partnership with BCN Checkpoint, a Barcelona-based organization dedicated to HIV prevention and sexual health within the LGBTQIA+ community, we raised over €1,500 to donate their way.

What happens inside the party does not end when the music stops. ICONIQA extends beyond the walls of the venue and into the city itself. The extraordinary creativity we witnessed in the red lewks inspired us to gather again the following Sunday for an open outdoor moment of visibility. Through an open call, anyone who wished to participate joined us for a day of community, connection, and documentation. Together we created photographs and video celebrating the beauty, diversity, and presence of LGBTQIA+ people occupying public space.

These images now become part of the evolving ICONIQA story, a reminder that what begins as a night of celebration can grow into something larger: a cultural archive, a shared memory, and a statement that LGBTQIA+ creativity deserves to be seen, supported, and celebrated.
