Alternative Royalty
Story and Photo: Jesse Genito | Chicago, The states
Shimmy LaRoux @Playmate_shimmylaroux
Jesse Genito’s portraits honor queer performance as an act of devotion, spectacle, and collaboration. Rooted in Chicago’s worlds of drag, burlesque, pole, clown, and fringe performance, the series frames its subjects as alternative royalty - absurd, regal, subversive, and deeply alive. Here, queer expression is not only witnessed. It is elevated.
